This is a fairly large, yet fine dining establishment that is on my list of top restaurants in the area.
Personally, I would avoid their special nights such as pop up Fridays and their Mussel nights. Too crowded and noisy. Go on a regular night when they are less busy and experience excellent food and service.
The interior of Print Works is very elegant. It is a fairly large restaurant, but they have spaced out the tables enough to give a bit of elbow room and the sections of the restaurant are separated by long white curtains. The curtains help give a cozier feel and also assist with a buffer of sounds. Print Works can be a bit noisy on some of their special nights, but typically it is perfect for having a nice private meal or a business meal.
Everything at Print Works is well done. Great food, great service and a great ambiance. What more could you want?
Tonight we had a sampling of Print Works appetizers and small plates.
We started off with the French Onion Soup. The broth was rich and extremely beefy and it was topped with a fantastic cheese. The onions were sweet and caramelized without being too sweet. Fantastic dish. My only issue was the soup was only warm and not hot. Many times it is served too hot and it can scald, but this was a bit too far on the cool end.
Next, we had the Crab Cakes. First, I must state I am a spoiled crab cake snob who was raised in Maryland. Marylanders have a very high standard for Crab Cakes.... Print Works Crab Cakes were a work of art. Beautiful plating. Crab Cakes with cranberry orange aïoli and pecan-sage rémoulade. They claimed they were lump, well I suggest they go to G&M Seafood and try those lump crab cakes and they will know what lump crab cakes are. The crab cakes here are good, they just don't meet the Maryland standard. I have not found any restaurant in our area that does. If you are interested in trying Maryland Style Crab Cakes without going to MD. G&M does have a mail order service. http://gandmcrabcakes.com The shipping is expensive. But they really are worth it. Try them and you too will be spoiled for life.

Next, we had
Beef and Cheddar Meatballs with honey chili glaze, horseradish crème Fraiche and roasted pear salad with baby kale, cherries, French feta and pumpkin seeds
This dish was very good. Very flavorful meatballs with a very tasty crunch. Good dish, but not great.
Next, we had Print Works Flatbread.
Pulled Beef Short Rib, Truffled Garlic Aïoli, Chives & Prima Donna Roasted Pear, Arugula-Walnut Pesto & Cambozola
This dish is a definite wow! The crust was extremely thin and crispy. Not a typical flatbread / pizza crust. The toppings were out of this world. I highly recommend trying this dish!
For dessert, we had the Mouse Duet decadent dark chocolate and Bailey’s milk chocolate with pirouettes
The mousse was very creamy and not firm and both had excellent flavor. Being a chocolate head. I preferred the chocolate. Deep rich flavor.
Print Works Bistro is a consistent restaurant with excellent standards in all aspect. If you have never been, go. It is perfect for business meetings to elegant nights out. You can not go wrong.
